Ready for 100 Wednesday, and progress on a La Crosse resolution

This #readyfor100 Wednesday, we're looking at how Madison is moving towards it's goal of 100% renewable energy. This recent article describes a proposed plan that would require a $95 million investment over 12 years but would deliver $78 million in cost savings, as well as health and societal benefits of $21 million to $162 million by 2030. In addition to being the right thing to do for the future of humankind, it looks like the financial benefits outweigh the costs!

Also, TOMORROW (March 21) the Sustainable La Crosse Commission will be discussing a draft resolution that would set an official goal for the city and county to transition to 100% clean, renewable energy community-wide by 2050. If the Commission votes to support the resolution, it will move on to the city and county legal departments for review, and then will be ready for consideration by the city council and county board. The Commission meeting is at 4:30 in Conference Room 1107 on the first floor of the County Administration Building (212 6th St.) - if you're able to attend, you could express your support for a renewable energy goal during the public comment period at the beginning of the meeting!
